an arvo with the moxhams
I headed north of Coonamble to photograph Rosie, Henry and her family, as they waited for baby number 4 to come to the party. It was the middle of sowing, and Henry managed to get out of the paddock, and scrub up for the photos, and he was still able to make a phone call or two amongst it all. It is possible to get your family captured for time during seasonal events. I loved my time with The Moxham's and getting to know all the kids, and their amazing personalities. A beauty of an afternoon around their home, and in the paddock. Even managed to get shown a dead roo. The raw moments of your kids and family interacting is what I love to capture.

Heading out the house gate and walking around the next paddock, was a chance for the kids to relax, burn off some energy and get used to having me around with my cameras. I am asking a few questions about 5 mins down the road as everyone relaxes. The kids started to tell me about their dog and cat, and the dead roo, that I was taken for a walk to see. I love the real conversation that farm kids can have, the truth, no holding back, telling all the things of farm life. Kids with grubby faces, dirt all over their shirts I reckon add memories to your families photos if that is how you live most days. The memories of the way the cat got carried around by the kids, and joined them on walks, how those little toddler fingers all grubby from dirt play wrap around dads finger, for reassurance. These are the photos, that I believe tell your families story at that time in your life. Sometimes during a session I will let your kids have a go photographing with my backup camera, this gives them a chance to be involved, be silly and capture each other and gives me a chance to capture couples without the kids in wanting their attention. Don't worry about your kids with my camera, that camera has been a trusty companion, in the yards, thrown in the ute and lost in the paddock a few times now, even during this session when I put it down in the grass. Thanks to Henry for multitasking, taking a phone call while searching for my camera, which he found! I try harder not to put that camera down in sessions now, and really want parents not to worry if I hand it to your kids to have a go with.

When everyone is over walking around, and telling me stories through the paddock, we made our way back to the home, where I spent some time being shown by the kids all the amazing toys they have in their beautiful garden, and the cool tricks they can do on the trampoline and swing sets. Kids can let loose, and play on their home turf. I get to capture their childhood as they might remember it, in their backyard climbing trees, digging in the sandpit, learning a new trick on the swing set, it is amazing to watch, and often parents can just sit back an relax while i get the grand tour. I will often bring bubbles for younger kids as a thankyou for them being awesome during their session, and it makes for cool memories and photos. Every family is different, and that is what makes capturing them at different times in your lives so important, then you need to make sure you get those photos printed for your kids and you to chat about, remember and reconnect over the memories.
AND THE END
After about two hours, we say our goodbyes, and y'all head in for the chaos of the night, after an afternoon of stories, fun and always expect those unexpected emotions from kids and I got to walkaway from this session, having giving your kids some bubbles and a lollypop (for that extra kick of chaos) with a beautiful picture drawn by Wilda during the session, that is still on my fridge.
