Photographing a photographer

A quick chat today about photography another family photograph based in Warren NSW which is roughly 80km from where we live. It is awesome, exciting and nerve wrecking to be asked to photograph another photographers family, and this was an great experience.

Family of five in a rural landscape during golden hour looking at the photographer smiling & relaxed together.
Siblings in a rural landscape having fun.
Brother & Sister sitting down in a rural landscape, smiling and relaxed.
The family home in the background with the dad, looking at his son giving his daughter a shoulder ride.
a big family hug, nice and squishy together.

Siblings

These kids together were keeping me on my toes, they loved to tell a story, and push each other buttons, and then next minute very lovingly helping each other out, with shoulder rides, or helping the littlest sibling with a particular flower she loved. I am here to capture your family, and tell your story of how you are right now. It can feel stressful for the parents to want kids to smile and behave, but that is not natural, and makes it hard to tell a natural story of your kids relationships within your family at the time. It feels hard, but try not to stress about kids mucking up, let me prompt, interact and guide during the session to help everyone relax and let their colours shine with me.

Together with mum & dad

Gathering the kids to have a bit of time with Mum and then Dad. This gives us a chance to capture the relationship as it is during that time, freezing time for a little while, so that as parents you can look back at these photos and it triggers a memory of how you and your kids interacted with each other at that age.

Just you two

Getting the parents together, without the kids for a few photos to remember each other and appreciate the relationship you have as your tribe that your raising runs around. This is one of my favourite parts, and Matt & Bell were so comfortable with each other, and still so in love, really a balance between giving each other crap and praising each other while they tell the story of how they started and some of the times they have had together. Some couples haven't had photos together since their wedding, and it is important to get this time together and photograph it.

An awesome autumn afternoon, getting to know the Bell family at their new home to celebrate this time in their life. Thanks for having me xo.
